School Nurse (Full-Time)

Position Overview

The School Nurse at Imperial World School is responsible for promoting and maintaining the health, safety, and well-being of students and staff. This role ensures that students receive timely medical attention, preventive care, and health guidance within a safe and supportive school environment.

The School Nurse plays a key role in student safeguarding, emergency response, health education, and coordination with parents and healthcare providers. The position requires professionalism, compassion, confidentiality, and the ability to respond effectively to medical situations.

Key Responsibilities

Student Health Care & First Aid

  • Provide first aid and immediate medical care to students and staff.
  • Assess and manage minor injuries and illnesses during school hours.
  • Stabilize students in emergency situations until further medical assistance arrives.
  • Maintain readiness of emergency kits and first-aid supplies.

Health Records & Monitoring

  • Maintain updated and confidential health records for all students.
  • Monitor students with chronic conditions (asthma, allergies, diabetes, etc.).
  • Track immunization records and medical documentation.
  • Prepare health reports when required by school administration.

Preventive Health & Hygiene

  • Promote hygiene, sanitation, and preventive health awareness among students.
  • Conduct routine health screenings (height, weight, basic health checks).
  • Support implementation of school health and safety policies.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and safety standards in coordination with administration.

Parent & Staff Coordination

  • Communicate with parents regarding student health concerns.
  • Provide guidance to teachers regarding students’ medical needs.
  • Coordinate with local hospitals or clinics during emergencies.
  • Support school events, sports days, field trips, and camps from a medical perspective.

Safeguarding & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with child safeguarding and health protocols.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student medical information.
  • Support school emergency preparedness plans.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (PCL Nursing / BN / BSc Nursing).
  • Valid Nepal Nursing Council registration/license.
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (school or pediatric experience preferred).
  • Certified in First Aid and Emergency Response.
