Imperial World School warmly invites theatre groups from around the world to participate in the
5th Lalabala Kathmandu International Children’s Theatre Festival 2025. This festival is a
unique platform that brings together young performers, educators, and artists to celebrate
creativity, cultural diversity, and the transformative power of theatre.
The 2025 edition promises an exciting program combining:

Performances by international and local theatre groups.

Workshops led by directors, actors, and theatre educators.

Seminars & Cultural Exchange Sessions on children’s theatre and its impact on education.

Kathmandu Sightseeing Tours to showcase Nepal’s history, culture, and natural beauty.
The Lalabala Festival was launched with the vision of creating a global meeting point for children’s theatre. Over the years, it has grown into one of South Asia’s most vibrant cultural exchanges, attracting theatre groups from across Asia, Europe, and beyond.
In our previous four editions, groups from gAustralia, Iran, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, Slovakia, Indonesia, Poland, and Franceg have participated. Each year, children and adults alike have been inspired by the artistic variety and storytelling shared on stage.
Participation Guidelines:
Eligibility

Theatre groups that produce plays for children or plays performed by children.

Target audience: children across different age groups.
Performance Requirements

Duration: 40–60 minutes.

Plays may be in any language, but a script or summary in English must be provided for the festival organizers.

Simple sets and props are recommended to ensure easy stage management.

Responsibilities of Participants

International travel costs (airfare or rail tickets) to and from Kathmandu must be covered by the participating group.

Travel insurance and visa processing are the participants’ responsibility.

Any additional group members beyond 10 will need to cover their own accommodation and meals.

Application Deadline:
July 31, 2025
Selected groups will receive confirmation by August 15, 2025.
Accommodation & Hospitality
- Groups will be hosted at partner hotels, youth hostels, or local host families.
- Three meals a day will be provided, along with tea/coffee breaks during festival sessions.
- Transportation for festival events and sightseeing tours within Kathmandu will be arranged by the organizers.
